Tangerang – Public pressure is mounting over the ongoing enforcement efforts at GOR Gondrong, as residents argue that the crackdown on street vendors (PKL) remains incomplete and has yet to deliver meaningful results. While authorities have conducted several enforcement operations, community members say many vendor carts are still parked and stored on the UMKM field, raising concerns about the seriousness and consistency of the government’s commitment to restoring public spaces.
According to residents, the continued presence of vendor carts on the UMKM grounds undermines the purpose of previous enforcement actions and creates the impression that the area has not been fully reclaimed for public use. Many believe that genuine enforcement should not only focus on removing vendors temporarily but also ensure that public land is permanently protected from unauthorized occupation.
Residents point out that the UMKM area is expected to be developed into a public facility that will benefit the wider community. However, they fear that future development plans could be delayed if the remaining carts and other unauthorized structures are not removed promptly.
> “The community supports government efforts to create order and restore public facilities. However, as long as vendor carts remain on the UMKM field, people will continue to question whether the enforcement process has truly been completed,” said a local resident.
In addition to concerns over the vendor carts, residents have also raised questions about the use of a local prayer facility (mushola) located within the area. Community members stress that the mushola should function solely as a place of worship and remain fully accessible to Muslim worshippers.
Residents are calling on the District Head (Camat), Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), and law enforcement authorities (APH) to review the situation and ensure that all public facilities are used strictly according to their intended purpose. They hope any issues can be resolved lawfully, fairly, and with respect for all parties involved while prioritizing the interests of the wider community.
> “A prayer facility is meant for worship. Public facilities should serve the public. We hope all relevant authorities take the necessary steps to ensure these facilities can be fully utilized by the community as intended,” another resident stated.
Community members are also urging stronger coordination between district officials, Satpol PP, local government agencies, and law enforcement institutions. They argue that enforcement operations should not be symbolic or temporary but must be followed by continuous monitoring and decisive action to prevent recurring violations.
Residents emphasize that public trust depends on transparent, fair, and consistent law enforcement. They believe regulations must be applied equally without favoritism and that all public assets should be protected for the benefit of society as a whole.
As public expectations continue to rise, residents say they are waiting for concrete action rather than repeated promises. They hope authorities will demonstrate their commitment by ensuring that public facilities, including the UMKM field and the mushola, are restored to their proper functions and remain available for the community.
